He’s starting to test his beak more, and sometimes it hurts! We’re going to have to deal with it quickly so it doesn’t become an issue.
That said, I think tomorrow will mark the beginning of training, which will hopefully divert the biting behavior. I haven’t decided what I want to use as a clicker yet – either a ballpoint pen or a jar lid are the two most likely choices. I’m also hoping millet will be enough of a motivator.

He’s checking out the whole flight thing fairly often now. He gets in these chatty moods where he’ll chirp a lot, flap his wings wildly, then attempt to fly somewhere. For some reason Anthony and I find it incredibly funny when he starts flapping like crazy, since he’ll “practice” in place before trying to actually go somewhere. He’ll look around and fidget as though he is trying to judge exactly where he wants to go and how he wants to get there.

This is his second night in the big boy cage – so far all is well (mostly). He got stuck on his food dish because he couldn’t figure out how to get back down. I took it out and have a bowl at the bottom of the cage instead.
He weighed 107 grams today. I’m not sure why he gained so fast! When I weighed him two days ago he had dropped to 102. It’s still very much within a healthy range so I’m not worried.
